A Little Decluttering in Our Lives

So I'm currently reading The Happiness Project, by Gretchen Rubin. It's a GREAT read, and it's inspiring me to make some positive changes in my life. :) In her book, Rubin discusses research that has found that individuals who declutter and organize their homes tend to be happier. Well I read that and there I went, straight to decluttering and organization inspiration land.

First task, the linen/toiletries closet. Dun dan dundn, da dun dundunnn (cue dangerous sounding music ;)) Our move into this house kind of felt like a hurricane. We swept into the house, dropped our belongings wherever we could, continued with the renovations, and just tried to maintain our sanity the best we could without drowning. (How'd you like the use of metaphoric speech there? hehe) Basically, we threw whatever linen and toiletries we could find into the closet, and shut the doors. ;) It took me a few months to get to the closet, but I'm glad I was finally able to tackle the mess.

First and foremost, sorry Mom for sharing our mess with the internet world. It's going to a good cause I swear ;)

Ya the closet with closed doors, doesn't seem toooo bad right? Cough.

Bottom 3 shelves
Top 3 shelves

After some time spent organizing, throwing stuff out, and decluttering I headed to the Container Store to buy some see through containers. (Side note: the Container Store is one of my happy places. Who knew there were so many unnecessary, but completely necessary things I need?! =P)
I basically divided the bins into: my stuff, Nadav's stuff, and all of our dental care stuff (tooth paste, mouth wash, etc.)

Organized bottom 3 shelves
Organized top 3 shelves

I have elaborate plans to purchase a label maker and further organize the bottom shelves with fun labels. (Yup, nerd alert.. nerd alert here)

Next up, tackling the coat closet....

I keep meaning to read that book, but other books keep finding their way into my hands. Maybe after I finish The Hunger Games trilogy. :)

Decluttering and organizing is my life right now. We just got married and all of our stuff is NOT fitting into this little apartment. Thanks for the inspiration!
