I Love My Body Because...

The incredible Ashley over at Two Eyes in the Mirror decided we all should acknowledge....

Love Your Body Day 2011!
Seriously, I think Love Your Body Day is such a wonderful idea. I don't know anyone that hasn't struggled in some way with their body. I think that those of us involved in the blogworld are constantly assessing our bodies, our outfits, and how we look in a picture. How could we not? We're putting ourselves out there for the world to see.

Personally, my weight has gone up and down since I can remember, and it's always been something I think and worry about. Over the years, I've tried to lose weight many times, often in very unhealthy ways. These days, I think I'm the healthiest I have ever been. I feel more energetic, disciplined, happier, and my eating habits have greatly improved. I have found that I really love to exercise, and I realize the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. Honestly, I even think that the more positive body image I have recently developed was one of the reasons I had the confidence to start a blog. :) Neat eh?
Well ya, there I am ;)
In honor of Love Your Body Day I thought I'd share with you a list of 10 Reasons I Love My Body (I know what you're thinking.. seriously Tammy, another list?! I really can't help it, I just really enjoy making lists hehe)

I Love My Body because...
1) It's carried me through 20 something years of life ;)
2) I am strong, I'm proud of the muscle definition I've developed when I look in the mirror. Hehe, ya I'm one of "those" girls who flexes their biceps when she thinks no one is looking.
3) I'm blessed with flexibility. As a child, I practiced gymnastics and dance and the flexibility that I gained from those classes seems to have followed me through life. That flexibility now makes pilates reformer and yoga more enjoyable.
4) I have pretty high endurance levels if I must say so myself. I work out 4-5 days a week and take very intense boot camp, pilates reformer, kickboxing, boxing, and yoga classes multiple times each week. I like to be pushed, and when I'm feeling ambitious I even take 2 classes in the same day.
5) I've realized when I take care of my body, my body responds pretty well. We have a pretty reliable give and take system happening right now.... I give my body nutrients, positive energy, and workouts and my body responds with physical energy, a more toned and cut body, and allows me to feel more confident
6) I am unique, no really I am. Both of my middle fingers are crooked, I have one hitchhikers thumb and one "regular" thumb, and hugeeeeeeeeeeee arches on both feet. ;)
7) I look just like my mom, and if you ask me... she's the most beautiful woman I know :)
8) I may be short petite =P, but that sure made dating a lot easier. I didn't have to worry about being taller than any guys hehe
9) Not going to lie, I think my hair is my best quality. It's a unique color, thick, and I don't have to do much to it... yayy for being lazy when it comes to doing my hair hehe
10) My body may not be perfect, but it's mine, and no one else was blessed with the same gifts and challenges it provides... and if you ask me, I think that's pretty special. :)

Now what do you love about your body?
Enjoying a beautiful afternoon at the Cove
Thanks so much Ashley for coming up with the idea for his wonderful post. I know you've inspired and touched more people than you know :)

xoxo,
Tammy

This is a great idea! It always makes my heart happy to hear women really LIKING themselves. Sometimes I feel that weight of dissatisfaction, disappointment, even despair when I flip through a magazine or watch a film. It's so easy to compare yourself to others and so important to really, TRULY love yourself the way you are.

What a great idea for a post! :) I have really long arms...which I used to hate...but they are very useful when I need to reach up high for something! :)

Yay I've started flexing my biceps when noone (or sometimes someone) is looking- I love the feeling of developing muscle definition! You're beautiful- I love your hair as well- great colour!

Thank you so much for writing this. I really related to a lot of it, being an athlete and muscle bound and all that. But I teared up with joy when I read number 7. So sweet.

I think it is so important for all women to know that they are beautiful. I wish that everyone could stop cutting each other down. There really is no reason. Women need to band together and work to empower each other.

This is so inspiring. LOVE IT. Like you, I like to be pushed. It feels good to really be ambitious and kick some ass at the gym (or on the treadmill in your basement, if you're like me). Oh, and that picture of you on the beach? GORGEOUS. And so is the other one. But I'm totally digging on your shoes in the second one.

This post is great and your list is AWESOME! I think we start young. So as a parent it's essential to work on our daughter's self esteem early. Just like any other aspect of their lives, loving ourselves and our bodies is a task worth taking on. You are so cute!

LOVEEEE this post! So positive and yes, there things we all struggle with. For example, at 5'9" I used to wish I were shorter. Now I relish my heels and feel sorry for the shorter guys that are insecure enough to make comments about it.
