It's Getting Pinteresting Around Here... And Some Serious Thoughts

Before we get pinning...

Some thoughts...
I don't usually get to personal on this blog,
And in general I like to keep things pretty light-hearted,
But when it came to the following situation I knew I needed to share.

One of my very very best friends is gay.
He is a kind, caring, creative, compassionate, and simply incredible person.
One Sunday he was confronted in a Starbucks by a hateful man.
This man went on a rant and threatened my friend because he is gay.
There were people in the Starbucks and people watched,
No one did a thing.
No one interrupted,
No one tried to help,
No one tried to stop the hateful man.

I just can't understand this...
No matter what you believe,
No matter your religion,
It's not okay to just watch this kind of harassment take place.
We all need to
HELP STOP THE HATE.

Sigh....

And now, let's move on to what I've been pinning.

A DIY "drive in theater".. wouldn't this be amazing for a child's birthday?

These shoes. Seriously, I'm obsessed

Nutella Puppy Chow? Yes please.

Just beautiful.

Champagne jello shots with pretty sprinkles

Check out that extension.. incredible.

Feel like sliding into the Mediterranean?

This sums it up.

Hope you all have a sweet day...
and happy happy Hanukkah to everyone who celebrates :)

xoxo,
Tamms

That is so very upsetting. Some of my friends are gay, and I would be devastated to hear that anything like that happened to them.

I cannot stand this hate that is justified by religion. One of my friends asked our priest why all of the hate was fuelled by religion. Our priest couldn't understand it either, and explained that Jesus wouldn't have created anyone that wasn't welcome into heaven. He loves gay people just as much as He loves straight people. The one thing Jesus doesn't tolerate? Outright hatred.

It's simply amazing to me that there are people like that out there. Give your friend a hug for me the next time you see him.

that makes my heart hurt.

i'd like to think that i would say something in a situation like that. we should all be proud for who we are and who our friends are.

and i want those jello shots. for breakfast.

I have never been able to understand how someone can say mean, and hurtful things to anyone especially someone they don't even know. Like the old saying if you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all! I believe in karma and I think whoever said that has theirs coming!

Thanks for getting a bit personal today, that's kind of a soft spot for me too. I worked at a hair salon for a couple of years and some of my closest friends are gay. Nothing works me up quicker than ignorance!!

That nutella puppy chow seriously looks amazing.

You know, The Bystander Effect truly does amaze me...in a horrible way. Just a few months ago, I was out running...at 10:30 on a Saturday morning and a man grabbed me by the hair and started pushing me and screaming at me. I was absolutely terrified. Within 2 minutes, there was a crowd of about 12 people all standing around and NO ONE said anything. It was the most terrifying experience of my life and to have a bunch of people just stand there on the sidewalk while this man was pushing me, shoving me and screaming and cursing just made me lose so much faith in humanity and I'm so much more terrified of trusting strangers now. It's scary to think that if God forbid something ever happened to you and you really needed help from a stranger, you probably wouldn't get it.

Good Samaritans are sadly, a thing of the past.

How upsetting and can't believe no one said anything!
It's amazing that this day and age people are still so hateful.

On a lighter note, I love pinterest and seeing others pin. I need to get into it more and love the inspiration images you shared!

ugh. That makes me so angry and sad. Humanity manages to embarrass and upset me more than it should. I have a few close friends that are gay, and I just can't grasp that other people 1. Think it's their business to have an opinion about someone they nothing about and 2. Don't see a human standing in front of them.

On the other hand…jello makes me want to vom. It literally makes my throat close up. BUT those little squares are pretty. :)

…and that girl's calves…amazing.

I dont understand the hate. It's not your life, why waste energy trying to change someone else?? People suck. I love the drive in movie theater! So so cute!!

I hate that. I'm a follower of Jesus Christ, but that doesn't give me any right to hate people who aren't, not even saying that your friend isn't a Christian; he very well may be.

From a "Christian" point of view, generally, everyone says, "Well if homosexuality is a sin, then I can't tolerate a gay person." But in reality, Jesus is about love and he was against legalism. So it doesn't matter.

My uncle is gay. He's only a few years older than me and one of my favorite people in the world.

NO religion gives you the right or reason to hate someone for something like that. And if you really can't come to peace with that, at least keep it to yourself.

...but on a lighter note, that puppy chow looks ridiculously delicious!

Sorry that was a bit of a religious rant... :)

Wow, that situation your friend was in leaves me completely shocked. I am so disappointed in the people who wouldn't say a thing. And as far as the man who was saying all the hateful things? Honestly? Not only is it 2011, but it's also the Christmas season. What an ignorant, ignorant man! Tell your friend to keep his head up!

this is quite upsetting, and so inexcusable. i agree, no matter your faith or beliefs, NO ONE should support hate. if you dont believe in hate, then you cant just watch it happen in front of you, just because you disagree with the subject matter. hate is hate. this makes me so angry, and i'm so sorry to your friend. i can't imagine having to live in this already messed up and hateful world knowing that people have ill-formed opinions about you... give him a big hug from me. some people just dont get it...

That is so terrible, and so sad to hear that no one said or did anything. Your friend deserves the world and whomever was mean to him needs a serious reality check, that may or may not include a slap.

The bystander effect... it is equally if not more disturbing than the bigoted, small minded person spewing hate. Hopefully the rest of your holiday season is more joyful!
