We're planning on having a mellow night with family which is just fine with me.

I always end up feeling like New Year's Eve is associated with high expectations, and well those expectations often lead to stressful and disappointing nights.

Honey You Baked #2

Last night I got the urge to, gasp, bake. 

It's kind of a big deal because such urges don't come about regularly in my life. 

(I blame it on Pinterest. I can't help but feel inspired to cook, bake, and create when I spend time on there)

Anyway, I found this recipe for chocolate chip cookies here and the end result was so so good.

Does anyone else feel guilty every time they stick of butter into a mixing bowl? I searched for recipes until I found one that only required 1 stick of butter, and not 2 or 3. Paula Deen would be so disappointed...

On an unrelated note, does anyone have a magical way of quickly softening butter?

I would love to find an easy way to speed up the process.

Sun Sun Sun Here I Come

This past weekend was perfect in San Diego.

Seriously all of the tourists lucked out (and yes there were many tourists =P).

The temperature was in the 70s,

the sun was shining,

and everything just felt happy and cozy (or maybe I was just feeling cozy hehe).

On Saturday morning Nadav and I were serious couch potatoes.

Amidst all this happy laziness I couldn't help but stare out the window and feel a tid bit guilty that we weren't taking advantage of the beautiful day.

Eventually the guilt took over,

we got our butts out of the house and made our way to the La Jolla Cove.

I'm so so happy that we got our lazy butts into gear...

Have you ever stuck your finger in a sea anemone? Ick, feels pretty gross to me ;)

Another Post About Beautiful Balboa Island & Very Exciting News

Nadav's brother and sister in law had a baby yesterday!!!

Hooray!!!

The baby came a bit earlier than everyone was expecting,

but he's beautiful, healthy, and the very best kind of Hanukkah gift to all of us. 

We are so so excited!

And I am so so excited to show you pictures of this amazing little one,

but I want to be respectful to his parents, and wait until I get an okay from them.

Once I hear the okay I promise that this blog will be taken over with photos of his sweetness.

Speaking of Orange County if you've read this blog for awhile you may know that my parentals also live in the OC. (Ha. Yup I just went there and called Orange County the OC.)

If you've read this blog for awhile you probably also know that any trip I take to the OC always includes a walk around Balboa Island.

No really, I'm obsessed with the place.

Last night after we left the hospital we met my mom and dad at Balboa Island.

Check out this beautiful Christmas lights wonderful.

 

This was built on a private BOAT DOCK specifically to match the owner's home Christmas lights display! See, I told you this place is amazing hehe

It's Getting Pinteresting Around Here... And Some Serious Thoughts

Some thoughts...
I don't usually get to personal on this blog,
And in general I like to keep things pretty light-hearted,
But when it came to the following situation I knew I needed to share.

One of my very very best friends is gay.

He is a kind, caring, creative, compassionate, and simply incredible person.

One Sunday he was confronted in a Starbucks by a hateful man.

This man went on a rant and threatened my friend because he is gay.
There were people in the Starbucks and people watched,
No one did a thing.

No one interrupted, 

No one tried to help, 

No one tried to stop the hateful man.

I just can't understand this...

No matter what you believe,

No matter your religion,

It's not okay to just watch this kind of harassment take place.
We all need to
HELP STOP THE HATE.

Sigh....

Family Photos And A Girly Kinda Day

Monday morning Farra called me and asked if I would be interested in coming over and taking some family photos of her cute family.

Duh. Yes please.

I'm kind of obsessed with her child and I like playing with my camera.

I am (obviously) not a professional.. not even close,
but we checked out Pinterest for some family photo inspiration
and ended up with, what I think, are some pretty cute photos. 

I know, I know baby Brendan is the cutest. Those curls get me every time.

After our little photo sesh
we went to Sushi Cafe for an all you can eat sushi lunchinner 

(lunchinner = a huge lunch that makes you so full it also counts as dinner)

I'm good with stix, probably a little too good. I can't say no to sushi.

Frozen yogurt deliciousness

This kid, I love him. Sigh.

Our day was pretty much perfect...
it even included a little shopping at the Carlsbad Forum (for Farra.. I'm trying to cut back on my spending...)
and ended with some frozen yogurt.
Really now, there's no better way to end a girl's day than with frozen yogurt.
