Adventures In Finding That Balance

To be honest,
Last week, I was feeling.. I dunno...
kind of "blah" about my blog.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE blogging
But over the past week I lost some of that "inspiration",
Blogging started to feel more like something I had to do,
not something I wanted to do.

Friday evening, I made a decision to spend the weekend away from my blog, twitter, and pinterest to refresh a bit...
and well it was glorious.

I drove down to Mission Bay and captured an incredible San Diego sunset.

I really spent time with Nadav,
but not the kind of relaxing where I sat on the couch next to him and read blogs.
The kind of time together that meant enjoying each other, laughing, and paying attention.

Nadav informed me that he was bummed I didn't blog about the Michael Jackson Cirque de Soleil show we saw last weekend. Here's a picture babe ;)

We went to sushi,
and I didn't checkin,
or take pictures (which might be your loss because the sushi was sooo good. Next time I promise hehe)

We met his family in Temecula,
and I took pictures because I wanted to, not because I had too.
(Well, maybe I was pretty confident that they would end up on the blog, but I swear that wasn't the reason)

I finished the first book in The Hunger Games trilogy,
and am obsessed.
I'm starting the second book today

I (eep!!) bought a Kitchenaid mixer,
but my new best friend mixer deserves her own blog post..
sooo I'll tell you more about her later!

We celebrated a good friend's birthday,
Spent time with people we love,
and I am slowly learning to find that balance I wrote about here.

And now, well I gotta admit I'm feeling pretty refreshed and... dun da dunnn inspired :)
Excited for the new week and the SoCal Blogger Meetup on Saturday!!Hooray!!

P.S. Have I told you lately that I love you my blogger friends? Because I do. You inspire me each and everyday.

What a great post, Tam. It's smart to listen to your inner self and take a little time away.

I struggle with the idea of "capturing & documenting" versus "being completely present & enjoying." I think oftentimes, in our effort to capture a moment, we actually let it slip away. It's hard to find that balance.

Glad you're feeling refreshed :)

I'm glad you took some time away for yourself and feel refreshed :) Sometimes it's essential to keeping us (and our partners!) sane ;)

Love the photos and I'm glad you're back!

i am so glad you had a good weekend. i rarely participate in the blog world on the weekend. unless i WANT to. but i understand how you feel about the obligation. so i just try and write only when i want to. if you don't...it usually shows!

glad you are back in the game!

Yay! Another one of my friends finally gave in and started The Hunger Games series!! I am reading the 2nd book too right now. :)

I completely know what you mean about spending time together, and not the kind of "time" where you sit on the couch beside each other while I read through 80 blogs. I need to stop doing it so much. :(

i think it is so so so important to turn off the phone and computer once in a while for a whole weekend. Sometimes you are not living life-just blogging about other peoples'. Glad you had a happy weekend 'away'.

1. I grew up in Murrieta/Temecula (my family still lives there and I get really excited when someone actually knows where it is.)

2. My life has had little meaning since I finished the 3rd Hunger Games book. I live only for the movie now.

3. Our Kitchenaid mixer was the best thing that has ever happened to our kitchen. Baking is so easy it's stupid.

i think everyone has those days weeks. and it just about turning it off until your inspired again. i never want this to feel like a job. so if i'm not excited to do it...i don't

I so need a weekend like this! im a little jealous- it's always nice to unplug and spend quality time together (i feel you with sitting on the couch checking blogs..)... and you were in temecula?! right down the street from me! after this blogger meet-up, when we really "meet", we will have to plan some wine tasting or some other adventure (with the boys).. (: happy monday!

Sometimes I feel the need to post something but I've learned nothing or slipping a day is totally okay and won't ruin my blog. I'm glad you took the weekend off!! You look so happy :)

Can't wait for sat!!!

sometimes i feel the same way. it can be EXHAUSTING taking time to blog, facebook, twitter, pin, and intagram - i have a full time job! :) good for you for taking a timeout.

i am OBSESSED with the hunger games - i read all 3 in less than 2 days last month. when you are finished we have to discuss!

You know what's funny, I have been feeling the same way lately. I don't know what it is.

You bought one?! I can't wait to hear all about it!

I know exactly how you feel! I go through phases with my blog- one week I'm totally inspired, then the next I just need a break! I think it's healthy to step back and get refreshed! (That Refreshed commercial totally ruined that word for me now! Ah!)

I've always held a policy that I blog when I feel like it. When/If I start forcing myself to make a post, I know it'll turn something I use as a creative release into a job - and that's not why any of us do it. Blog for yourself.

Sometimes you just need to take a step back. Love everything you wrote.

PS I'm awful and have no clue how to make my button larger, it a percentage in the thing not a number? Thoughts?
