The First Sunburn Of The Year

This weekend I got my first sunburn of the year
No, I am not proud of it, but sometimes this ginger with pale skin gets sunburned even after applying/reapplying sunblock. What can ya do?
(Don't fret I'm just a little bit toasty on my shoulders and chest)

On this sunburn-y weekend one of my very very veryyyyy best friends came to visit from LA.
Her name is Gila, I like to refer to her as Gila-Joon though (but that’s a whole ‘nother story).
Gila and I met back when we were both completing our undergraduate work at UCLA
and well, we love each, a lot.

Summer 2011
She’s now getting her PsychD and becoming a fancy psychologist,
and yup.. she’s good at what she does. (Not going to lie, I let her use her magical skills on me too.)
Gila comes to San Diego a few times each year to de-stress from the craziness that is Los Angeles, and well.. that makes me happy.

Every time she visits we make sure to visit the Torrey Pines State Reserve, and hike the beach trail. I really recommend this hike to anyone who enjoys hiking. It’s an easy, mostly downhill hike, is incredibly beautiful, and ends on Torrey Pines beach.

Pre sunburn… still reintroducing my skin to the sun ;)

This view doesn’t suck

My Gila-Joon

The sand at Torrey Pines beach is scattered with the most beautiful rocks and seashells

Hope you had a happy weekend,
I'll be back this week with lots of San Diego beachiness for your viewing pleasure

P.S. Today is the last day to enter the Bohemian Honey jewelry giveaway

Looks like a fun weekend! I'm so so jealous of where you live. Good luck with the sunburn. I'm sure my first one will be coming soon!

we just went hiking saturday in Irvine, at black star canyon falls- so pretty, and there's some scrambling/rock climbing involved (not like the ropes rock climbing, like "woah, i've got to climb up that rock to get where i'm going" climbing)

so now it's settled, we MUST hike this beautiful spot..

(i wanted to take a yoga picture on our hike, too, but never was there time.. or a sturdy enough rock!)

happy monday friend!

(oh, and ps, SOME of us use sunscreen.. so SOME of us didn't get burned.. only slightly slightly tan.. jealous?!)

My brother wants to visit in a few weeks and go hiking. The problem is, I don't hike. This trail sounds perfect haha!

Oh sunburn sister, I know that pain! I still have tanlines (er, ok, burnlines) from a wicked toasting I got back in September!

Seems like it was totally worth it though, what a fun time!
