From last weekend.. before the stomach flu from hell hit us both =P
I may not be a teacher, but the beginning of the school year is still of full new beginnings and lots of hectic moments because I am a pediatric occupational therapist and work at a special education school.
Truth is, this year feels a bit more hectic than previous years. There are lots of new students, lots of reports to complete, I am helping out the teachers and staff more than I have in the past, and well that stomach flu I had over the weekend kinda kicked the crap out of me.

It's so easy to get wrapped up in the madness that is the first week of school. Yesterday I left work feeling exhausted (and cough bruised), but today something changed. I was in my office working with one of my favorite older students... yes, I know I'm not supposed to have favorites =P
My Our favorite teeny bopper songs were playing off of my computer (that obviously included Call Me Maybe, Bubbly by Colbie Caliat, and 'Nsync hehe) and we sang along to the words while playing a serious game of Jenga together... and it hit me.
I am so so lucky.

Lucky to have a job where I can play Jenga because it helps a sweet kid with her fine motor and visual skills.
Lucky to have an office that is quiet, but where I can play silly music if I want too.
Lucky to have the freedom to plan the type of treatment sessions I want to plan.
Lucky to be around such great yet challenging kids that teach me so much.
Lucky to work in an environment that is so supportive.
Lucky to have job that I really love.
Just lucky.

Kinda awesome right? =)

**And in other happy news, pumpkin spice lattes are back at Starbucks. Cue happy dance**

You look SO incredibly happy in your picture, I love it! It's nice to go through why we're so lucky, huh? PS I just had the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks last night, I think we're meant to be best friends IR (in real life) hehe.

Your job sounds amazing! I have always been interested in OT but I'm intimidated by the schooling I think. I'm already 27 so I feel like to go back now PLUS work full time would be a lot. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet one day!

It is nice to remember the good things in life when you are feeling worn out :). Now if only this heat would leave us, I would go get a pumpkin spiced latte.

There's nothing better than being excited and happy about one's job - we spend so much time there and it's such a shame when it's not enjoyed!
