Late night conversation (okay it was more like 10pm because I am old and like to be asleep by 11pm at the latest).

Fiance is such a weird word.
It's especially weird to say it after calling you my boyfriend for so many years.

Yeah, the word "fiance" sounds like you're in some purgatory or something...
Like you're stuck in this place or time and just want to get out.

I have conversations like that all the time now! And it's weird speaking in a conversation with someone else and saying boyfriend instead of fiancé and catching yourself!

Also, you are not an old lady if you go to bed by 11pm. I'M an old lady since I am in bed well before 10pm these days. I blame the time change, though.
(I blame the time change on lots of stuff.)
my husband and i hated the word fiance too! We were always silly and said "fian-CEEE!" to make it even more snooty ;)
