Oh Florence

On our last morning in Cinque Terre we were oh so happy because you know, we were in flipping Italy,
but man were we sad to leave Cinque Terre.
That place is just unreal.
But alas, it was time to head to Firenze, or Florence for all you Americans out there. =P

We started on our way. Okay to be real here, we tried to head out to Firenze.
But then the the train from Vernazza to La Spezia was about two and a half hours late.
Once we made it to La Spezia we found that the ticket machines were broken and a packed train station full of were all trying to figure out how to buy tickets. Naturally, that caused another two hour daily.
**If you can buy those tickets ahead of time DO IT**
Ohhh Italllliaaa

Silly, silly ticket machines. Why I oughhttaa...
His & Hers.

About a month earlier I had reserved tickets to the Accademia Gallery. Who want to spend 3 hours waiting in line while on vacation??
Not I my friends, not I. =P

Our reservations were for 3pm, and I figured that would be plenty of time assuming we would leave Cinque Terre in the morning. Well, with all the delays we made it to our hotel at exactly 3pm. We dropped off our stuff and literally ran to the Accademia.
We walked in, and saw this.

Call me naive but I honestly wasn't expecting to be as impressed as I was with Michelangelo's David. The details and beauty of this masterpiece are pretty unreal. I just couldn't stop staring (wink wink). We sat and admired Michelangelo's front, side, and back for a very long time
**Okay Nadav is rolling his eyes at me right now**

Then, we wandered around the Accademia for some time and eventually set out to explore Firenze.
I straight up fell in love with that city. It's beauty really is beyond words.
Also, we found it pretty easy to navigate, people were nice, the history is so rich, and oh.my.god. the food is delicious.
Big props to you Firenze =P

Beautiful Ponte Vecchio bridge that crosses the Arno River

No big deal, just some simple chalk art on the street. =P

That night we had dinner at Trattoria Zaza based on recommendations from good ole' Rick Steves and Lauren. I know I've written this before, but really this was one of the best meals we had on the entire trip!! If you're in Firenze go go goooo to Trattoria Zaza, I promise you will love it!

Seafood gnocchi ahhhh

Dinner was amazing, dessert was delicious, and the wine..... ooohhh my. Okay the wine was so good I got a little too happy and neglected to take photos of the rest of our meal. I promise it was amazing.

We spent the next few hours wandering around the city, checking out the duomo, and admiring the replicas of famous sculptures that can be found throughout the city. Around midnight I we decided I we needed more dessert, because you know.. we were in Florence after all, and Florence is known for having the best gelato in Italy. We consulted with Ricky again, and he recommended Gelateria Santa Trinita
Oh. My. God.
I don't know if it was the wine, holy crap, this was THE best gelato I had in Italy, and trust me when I say I had a lot of gelato while there.
