On Firenze

Ah Firenze.
You are beautiful, just beautiful.

The Arnon River glows,
the colorful buildings make you stop and stare,
your museums are filled with so many beautiful things,
people are actually nice here (cough),
and well you just don't want to leave.

We began our second day in Firenze with a long uphill walk to the Piazzale Michelangelo. In typical fashion I alternated between running and lunging up the hill, while Nadav rolled his eyes at me. Ohhh love. =P

The walk was long but it was so so worth the views. You really can see all of Firenze from the time of the Piazzale Michelangelo.

Afterwards we stopped by Firenze's historic synagogue, aka the Great Synagogue of Florence, which was absolutely stunning. We were informed that photography was not permitted inside the gates, and for some reason I actually listened this time. =P I promise though, if you are at all interested in the history of the Jewish people this synagogue is absolutely worth a visit.

The rest of our day was spent exploring the city, visiting the Uffizi Gallery, and eventually taking the Italo train to Venice. Okay let me just put this out there (again), if you are in Italy and are able to take an Italo train to your destination DO IT. Those trains are about the same price as the regular trains and are air conditioned, comfortable, the ticket machines actually work, and the people who work for the company are oh so helpful. What am I trying to say here? Okay, the Italo trains feel a little bit like luxury after the regular Italian trains we rode. =P

Sigh, our time in Firenze was way way too short.

If you are lucky enough to visit Italy I would recommend spending at least a few nights in Florence. I think the city is magical. :)
