To be honest Nadav and I didn't have the highest expectations for our time in Paris.
We had heard a bunch of stories about rude Parisians, persistent pickpockets, and just straight up pretentious people.
We figured we'd spend a week in Paris, take it easy, and try not to take things too seriously.
Maybe it was our stupidly low expectation, but I straight up LOVED PARIS.
I loved everything about that city.
The history, the style, the parks, the museums, the cafes, the wine, the incredible food, the kind people we constantly encountered, and well I could go on and on and on.
Paris turned out to be absolutely magical.
My biggest regret is that we only had a week there, but I know we will most definitely be back.
While in Paris we stayed at the Hotel Jacque de Molay in the Marais neighborhood. The Marais neighborhood is known as the Jewish and Gay neighborhood in Paris and naturally I loved it there. =P The neighborhood also felt less touristy than others, but was a short bike or metro ride to all the places we wanted to visit. Our hotel room was beautiful and modern, and the service we received at the hotel was top knotch. If you are looking for an affordable and enjoyable place to stay in Paris I would definitely recommend the Hotel Jacque de Molay in the Marais.
Renting Velib bikes was one of the best decisions we made on our Parisian adventure. We picked up our bikes down the street from the hotel and rode to almost all of our destinations. I really think that those bikes were the perfect way to experience Paris in the summer. We were able to stop and really take in so much of the city that I think we would have missed had we relied on the Metro. Oh and we burned so many calories that all the croissants, wine, cheese, macaroons, chocolate, bread, you get the point didn't seem to matter one bit. =P
