What Should We Do With This Wall?

Okay all you design-y, artsy fartsy, and stylish in the know friends.
We had some work done around the house over the weekend and now we have this very large open space to work with.

Sometimes it seems like it's more difficult to decorate a larger space than a smaller space, and we're just not sure what to do with this wall. The television can still be moved and that's a fake fireplace that can also easily be moved/removed.

What do you think we should do?
We love your input :)

Hi Lady!

So I love the fact you have such an awesome, large wall to work with! It's gorgeous! Here is my opinion: I think the tv makes the fireplace look small when it's all by itself - so I think if you could flank the fireplace with either 2 bookshelves or maybe a large chair on one side and an ottoman then a bookshelf on the other side. It seems like you have a lot of cords, something I deal with on a daily basis...men.... haha! I would find a bookcase you can hide some of those in that is about as high as your tv. Just my thoughts - I would be happy to send you some ideas for bookcases and/or chairs, etc. :) What's on the other side of this...your sofa, cocktail table??

Happy Designing!

Your room reminds me a lot of Elise's. Check out some of the things she has done. http://eliseblaha.typepad.com/golden/2013/11/growing-the-gallery-wall-around-the-tv.html

I would say a gallery wall around the TV ORRR
flank the Tv with bookshelves so it looks like you have giant built-ins. although, it may be hard with the ceiling at the height it is.

I think you need some awesome art. big art. a big mirror.

Hi Tammy! Love your BLOG!, Oh this angled wall...The TV looks abit "crooked" because of the angle. A) I would suggest you nix the fireplace. Sorry..its all romantic and stuff but not practical and it doesn't compliment that area. B) You must invest in an entertainment center! Nix the "cart" and spend the money on a good piece of furniture to store your electronics and possibly the TV. PAINT it a dark rich color. The wood floor will love you for it. Finally, if you decide to not mount the TV, and still keep it there on a console you can really buy beautiful artwork and maybe some wall sconces! Hope you like my suggestions! Happy decorating ! leelee
