Alforon

Nadav and I recently stumbled upon a little San Diego restaurant gem, and seriously, Alforon is what Middle Eastern food dreams are made of. Alforon is little Lebanese spot off of El Cajon Blvd in the College Area that really makes you feel like you've taken a trip out of the US for a short while, and I mean that in the best possible way.

I really don't mess around when it comes to Middle Eastern food and I will attest to Alforon's deliciousness. It's authentic, really busy (even at 3pm on a Sunday!), loud in that familiar to me Middle Eastern kinda way, friendly, and the food is just soooo damn good. Take your time, chat with the owner, and expect to love every bite.

Pita, spicy hummus with jalapenos and pine nuts, and marinated radishes and carrots
Beef shwarma flat bread, was good but I preferred the chicken tawook
Chicken tawook. Next time I'll order the chicken tawook with cheese, peppers, and jalapenos. I'll also make sure to order the zaatar (a delicious Middle Eastern spice) supreme flatbread too!

Aaysh essaray, a dessert made with custard, pistachios, rose water, sugar, nutmeg and cinammon.

If you're adventurous and in the San Diego area you HAVE to try Alforon. Trust me, you won't regret it :)

Yum! We eat at Aladdin quite often as it is right by our house in Clairemont. Looks like a very similar menu. We recently tried the aaysh essaray for the first time. Love it!
